Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean, Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim Hussein Ismail, the Continuing Education and Scientific Development Division at Al-Mamoun University College held a scientific symposium entitled “Islamic Thought against Terrorism and Extremism: Upholding Justice and Fairness”. The symposium was chaired by Dr. Ghassan Abdul Qadir Hamid, and attended by several faculty members and students.

In this regard, Prof. Ismail emphasized that the threat of terrorism and extremism is a daily challenge targeting the stability of our countries and the security of our citizens and residents. It threatens our political, economic, and social systems. He pointed out that terrorism is a global phenomenon that transcends borders, cultures, and religions, and combating it requires concerted efforts from various parties.

He stressed that our war against terrorism is not solely a military one, as terrorism is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, with each facet requiring a specific approach to confront it. Therefore, efforts to challenge extremism and terrorism must address every stage: from tackling the roots of radicalization to combating recruitment operations, and ultimately to effective community participation.
