In an effort to enhance the academic and practical competencies of the College of Al-Mamoun University’s Digital Media Department—sharpening their professional and experiential insight through the Iraqi Media Network—students from the department, led by Dr. Abdulqader Al-Hadithi, made an official visit to the Iraqi Media Network. The visit included tours of several of the network’s studios, such as the sports news studio, the Iraqi News Agency (INA), and the Al-Iraqiya News Channel studios.

During their visit, the students received detailed explanations from network officials about the workflows and production processes used in preparing, presenting, and directing sports programs. In addition, Mr. Ammar Al-Aani, Managing Editor at the Iraqi News Agency, provided a comprehensive overview of the responsibilities carried out by agency staff—from gathering initial information from primary sources, including correspondents and international news agencies, to verifying, editing, and rapidly publishing news for the public.

The students were also given the opportunity to observe firsthand how news bulletins are edited and broadcast live from Al-Iraqiya’s news studios. They expressed their enthusiasm and the substantial benefits they gained from their time inside the network.

In a further development, Mr. Karim Hammadi, Director of the Iraqi Media Network met our students. He kindly agreed to offer some of them summer internships during the upcoming break, thereby helping them develop their media skills. Additionally, recognition is due to Mr. Jaafar Mushir Al-Aaidi, Director of Al-Iraqiya News, who facilitated the visit and granted the students full access to understand the operational details of the channel.

Accompanying the students were Dr. Abdulqader Al-Hadithi, Head of the Digital Media Department, along with several specialized faculty members. In a related note, Dr. Al-Hadithi emphasized that many student field visits target government institutions and private-sector companies—entities that employ large workforces and comprise numerous departments, branches, and administrative levels—so that students become familiar with these professional environments.

Such purposeful visits, organized by educational institutions at all levels, help bridge the gap between society and academia, as well as between theoretical studies and the professional roles students will assume in the near future. These experiences enable students to identify suitable career paths, transforming such aspirations into tangible goals. As a result, they can envision themselves seated in the very chairs occupied by professionals in the institutions they visit, nurturing dreams that, God willing, will soon become a reality.
