Baghdad, Iraq – In a new academic achievement, Al-Mamoun University has been included in the AD Scientific Index for 2026, reflecting the research and educational excellence that the university provides in the field of higher education. This ranking enhances the university's local and international academic profile.
The AD Scientific Index functions as a worldwide ranking system which assesses academic performance of educational institutions by gathering authentic data in real-time. The ranking includes 24,539 academic institutions which operate across 221 different countries. The assessment relies on three research criteria, which include the H-index, the i10-index, and citation count, to evaluate institutions based on their ability to generate influential scientific research.
Among Iraqi universities, 125 institutions were included in this ranking, comprising 69 public universities, 56 private universities, and 2 research institutions. The university achieved this ranking position through its commitment to developing academic and research capabilities that align with global standards.
Criteria used in the ranking:
• H-index evaluates researcher performance through their publication output and citation impact
• i10-index focuses solely on papers that received ten or more citations
• Citation count: shows the complete number of times research output from the university appears in global academic publications
• Performance in disciplines: Academic performance is evaluated across several scientific fields and academic specialisations
• Emerging universities: A special ranking for modern universities that have achieved notable accomplishments within a short period
The AD Scientific Index launched in 2021 to provide a worldwide ranking system based on accurate and verifiable data. It includes both scientists and educational institutions, using multiple criteria to assess academic performance throughout their scientific research careers.
