Through its Continuing Education Division and Human Rights Division, Al-Mamoun University, in collaboration with the Martyrs' Foundation, held a scientific symposium entitled “The Impact of the Speicher Massacre by the Extremist Terrorist Organization (ISIS) on Human Rights and Societal Peaceful Coexistence”. The symposium discussed international reports, statistical data, and themes related to the ramifications of the massacre and its impact on society, as it stands among the most atrocious crimes in Iraq's history in terms of human rights violations.

In addition to discussing ways to achieve justice for the victims and ensure accountability for the perpetrators, the symposium also shed light on the massacre as part of documenting the national memory and exposing the dimensions of the crime and its legal and social implications. Furthermore, the symposium served as a moral and historical imperative to honour the victims, remind society and the world of the importance of human rights, as well as the necessity of achieving justice to prevent such crimes from recurring in the future.
