In an effort to enhance Iraqi academic expertise through international collaboration, exchange knowledge, and facilitate student and faculty exchanges, Dr. Salah Al-Shammari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Mamoun University College, conducted an official visit to SOAS University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies).
Dr. Al-Shammari met with the President of SOAS, Dr. Zainab Badawi, and toured the campus. He was briefed on the latest updates and developments in teaching methodologies, infrastructure, and modern equipment used in educational process. He also visited the central library and reviewed its collection of significant academic publications.
The visit resulted in a memorandum of understanding on several key educational points aimed at benefiting education and students of Al-Mamoun University College on numerous levels. These points include faculty exchange programs and student scholarships. The memorandum of understanding encompassed the following: promoting scientific exchange across various scientific and technological disciplines, organizing joint training programs for students and faculty members, exchanging academic expertise in scientific research, developing cooperation in modern technology and innovation, with a focus on practical applications that contribute to the advancement of economic and scientific sectors, and establishing science and technology parks in collaboration between the two universities.
Furthermore, the two universities (Baghdad and London) agreed to implement joint research projects, encourage cooperation in joint academic supervision, modernize curricula, and exchange scholarships.
