Research Policy

Publication and peer-review policy

The university publishes research in two peer-reviewed, open-access journals, the Journal of Al-Ma’moon College and the Mamoun Journal for Medical Sciences, which follow the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the following: Peer review: every manuscript is first assessed by the editorial board for scope, requirements and similarity, then reviewed double-blind by two or three independent specialists with no conflict of interest; the board decides to accept, request revision or reject. Submission does not guarantee publication. Originality and integrity: every manuscript is screened for plagiarism before review; work already published or under consideration elsewhere is not accepted; fabricated or falsified data and non-existent references are prohibited; authorship is limited to those who contributed. Disclosure: authors disclose funding, conflicts of interest and any use of generative AI tools; reviewers may not use such tools in reviewing or upload unpublished manuscripts to them. Research with human participants requires ethical and institutional approval, informed consent and protection of participants’ privacy and data. Open access: published articles are freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC BY 4.0); authors keep their intellectual property and may deposit the published version in repositories and academic platforms. Complaints and appeals about review, publication and ethics are handled confidentially and impartially, and the record is corrected or the article retracted where a substantial error or violation is established.
