On the Day Baghdad Assumes the Rotating Presidency of the Arab Universities Union, with the participation of Al-Mamoon University College, the Minister of Higher Education calls for the establishment and declaration of the Arab Higher Education Area. During the opening ceremony of the General Conference of the Arab Universities Union, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, called for the establishment and declaration of the Arab Higher Education Area project under the auspices of the Arab Universities Union.Amidst a distinguished academic Arab presence, the Minister emphasized that the conference of the Arab Universities Union represents a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and opinions on ways to develop higher education in the Arab region. He called for the establishment and declaration of the Arab Higher Education Area, noting that this proposed initiative includes an important roadmap to overcome challenges and expand joint efforts, similar to the experience of establishing the European Higher Education Area. He also urged for supporting and reinforcing reform environments in institutions and providing solutions to numerous challenges confronting Arab universities and educational establishments. He added that genuine, continuous, and effective collaboration among Arab universities will bridge the gap between Arab educational spaces and pave the way for productive interaction with established educational environments in many world capitals.

On the sidelines of conference activities, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research honored Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, Dr. Abdel Majeed bin Amara, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Research Councils, Dr. Lotfi Belkacem, President of the University of Sousse, and Dr. Al-Hadi Belhaj Saleh, President of Al-Mustanir University. The Minister expressed his confidence in strengthening the position of Arab universities in terms of academic, scientific, and research contributions.
